Q. “Do I have to be single to attend this event?”
A. No, while our group is primarily singles, there are many people that have met on our past cruises that want to come back as a couple. Quite a few have actually come back the following year in celebration of their new relationship, and some have even proposed! We’ve opened up the group this year to both singles and unmarried couples as there are many group activities that fit both couples and singles. It is up to you to decide what activities you’d like to participate in and there is no additional charge for the actual “singles” activities.
Q. "Is airfare included in the package price?"
A. No, airfare is not included, however we can arrange your airfare directly through Princess or our other resources if you’d like us to take care of your flights for you.
Q. "I've seen lower prices on the internet, why is your price higher?"
A. While we understand that there are special "internet only" deals available, or special promotions directly from Princess, these deals are not available for groups, nor are they all available for these particular dates or the same cabins that we have in our group space. Our prices include port taxes and fees and all the special group amenities that you will receive as part of this special event. In addition to all the "typical" cruise activities, our group will have private parties, private shipboard activities, group shore excursions, special cabin amenities, and other functions that only this group is entitled to.
Q. "Can I book the cruise on my own and attend the private parties?"
A. No. You must book your cruise directly through Binnacle Travel to be able to participate in the group activities. You will receive a special group identification that will give you access to the private events, and only those with this identification will be admitted. Please note that our prices are competitive with what is currently being offered, and there are many private parties and activities included that offset the small difference (approx. $100) in the retail cost.
Q. "Is everyone on the ship single?"
A. No. Because the ship can accommodate almost 3,000 passengers, and our group is expected to be approximately 400-500, there will be many others onboard this cruise that may or may not be single. While Princess tends to cater to singles and many of their onboard activities are planned with singles in mind, there will be couples and families among those other passengers.
Q. "What is the age group for these trips?"
A. Based on previous trips, the average age for these events is 35-55, however there have been smaller groups, both younger and older that have attended. Because alcoholic beverages are often served at the events, you must be 21 years old to attend.
Q. "What is the ratio between men and women?"
A. This is probably the most frequently asked question that we get! During the reservation process, the answer to this question can change day to day. We keep a close watch on this to make sure the genders are split as evenly as possible, and in most cases, it stays within a 10% margin either way. If for some reason, the ratio is off-balance, then we would target that gender specifically or offer some sort of incentive. Based on these events in the past, the genders have been split at approximately 55%/45% (55% women) and we expect it to be around the same split this year as well.
Q. "Do I have to participate in all of the group activities or am I free to do what I want?"
A. While we have arranged various activities for the group to get to know each other better, you may choose to attend only those activities that you'd like. This is your vacation, and you are free to enjoy it any way that you choose.
Q. "Can I bring my children along?"
A. While Princess offers many activities for kids of all ages, our private events are for those 21 years and above, therefore it is not recommended. Should you decide to bring them along, the ship does offer babysitting services for approximately $10-15 per hour and alternate dining accommodations are available.
Q. “What’s included in the Private Events?”
A. While many of the activities this year will not be disclosed until we send out your tickets – this is because we have many companies that try to duplicate our events – all events are geared with maximum interaction to get to know everyone in our group. We have private parties, speed dating activities (not your average speed dating!), pre-dinner gatherings and tons of little extras that we’ve come up with based on what our singles have requested in the past. We promise no “cheesy” singles activities, and have made many changes to the program from in the past to eliminate the high prices and extras that the average single traveler doesn’t care about. After all, it’s all about price and meeting lots of new friends, as well as a fabulous vacation in the Caribbean!
Q. “You’ve done this cruise for Match.com the past 4 years. Is this one through them too?”
A. No, this year’s cruise is a Binnacle Travel exclusive trip. Binnacle Travel is a leader in the singles travel industry and works with many large singles clients. This year’s cruise is being marketed by many singles groups and affiliates to bring even more singles together, as the one key to a successful event is lots of singles!
